Virtually any capacity of batery can be made up as a custom build - give me a call/e-mail to discuss your requirements. I've built many experimental sizes, some helmet mountable and others made for waist mounting, generally in a cut down Oldham or Exide housing. If you prefer a waist mounted battery, there is scope for fiting two independent batteries within an Oldham/Exide housing. I've typically used either 3 x 'D' cells (now available up to 9Ah) or flat or cylindrical Lithium Ion cells but there's no reason why a custom battery should not be built using any of a number of technologies. The greater the battery capacity, the greater the duration or rating of lamp that can be used with it.

This custom setup consists of a waist mounted arramgement with two independent batteries, one of 11Ah, the other 2Ah.
These give durations of:
Over 30 hours duration with a 1W lamp and 15 hours with a 2W lamp for the main 11Ah battery.

6 hours at 1W and 3 hours at 2W for the 2Ah battery.

This arrangement might be viewed as a primary and reserve setup. Changing over from one to the other is simply a case of reversing the colour-coded connector.

There is also a custom 'dual' charger - this charges both batteries simultaneously.
